General Information
Hi! My name is Lauren Gomez. I was born in Tennessee and lived in a military base for three years. I moved here to Waunakee when I was going into first grade. School is something I love to attend and I'm always willing and ready to learn! I work at the Waunakee public library, and I absolutely love the job! I've participated in many clubs and I have many hobbies I love to do in my free time. The ones closest to my heart are Lego and puzzles (1,000 pieces). My dream is to become an aerospace engineer one day, which is why I'm interested in these engineering classes.
Hobbies and Organizations
Dungeons and Dragons is a huge passion of mine. I play every Sunday and sometimes more. My friends know me for normally playing and elf that has some sort of magical ability. I love how I can do things in this game that you definitely can't in the real world. It's the perfect activity for a creative and imaginative mind. If you're think you might be interested in this, visit the website D&D beyond to find out more. There are even Star Wars campaigns!
I'm also in Civil Air Patrol, a volunteer program that works with the U.S. Air Force. We work on leadership, drill, aerospace, and emergency services training. We wear military grade uniforms and have ranks. I'm Senior Master Sergeant in the program and one of the cadet staff members that's in charge of our cadet unit. I have a lot of fun in this organization and at the same time it's a confidence booster as well. I've learned so much about how to be a leader and can apply it to school.
Science Olympiad is by far one of my favorite clubs. It may sound weird that I like to take tests for a competition but it really is exciting! I learn about concepts I had never explored before and learn more challenging concepts. We work hard to make our notes and overcome challenges that may only show up on competition day! We've come really close to winning nationals multiple times, but we always know we did our best and we're proud of ourselves. On a regular day, you may catch me wearing one of my team's shirts or sweatshirts. "Go for the Au!"
