Introduction
Hello! This week I worked on three digital files for the laser printing. The front and back cover of a journal, the design for a waterbottle, and a 3D model to put together. I'll describe them each individually to make it not as chaotic. This week I used Adobe Illustrator, it indeed had some kinks in it and resulted in some imperfect files but that's to be expected. It worked much better than last week's adventure! Below are some of the drafts I created, I wanted to create things very personalized and sci fi. There wasn't as much thought that went into the very nit-picky parts of these projects other than I needed to center them.
The Jedi
I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and I myself align with the rules of the grey jedi. The code for that group is what I inscribed on the bottle. Because the letters (which I created outlines for, I remebered this time!) are black and so is the image (which I also correctly formatted, yipee!) they will simply engrave into the waterbottle. I personally think the font I chose is AWESOME and that it looks super cool.
With that it's imagination time again, pretend I uploaded this file to the computer by the laser. Then I placed the water bottle on the rotating... thing so that my design could be properly engraved and presto! Done. |
The Eagle
Nothing to say much here except that, as you know, I play Dungeons and Draons. We use miniatures in the game to help describe situations and I though this eagle was an awesome one to use. I found it on thingiverse and from there you download what you need and if anything simply need to adjust the stroke color to red.
That's as far this goes. It looks decent to put together and as long as you don't set the material on fire while it's cutting the laser part should go fine. I don't have any more pictures than these two, sorry. |
The Rocket
This was by far the toughest one to complete mainly because the photo for the rocket was being stubborn with me. I tried to delete some nonessential parts of the rocket but only succeeded on one rocket. I'm proud of myself for the design, and the font of the name isn't so bad. They will make great journal covers if that ever happens, and I left 1/2 in at the top for the holes for the spiral band binding it all together.
After moving some parts and getting frustrated at my computer this file was done. You can imagine that in real life my next step would be to upload this to the laser to print out on a mat board. I hope I'm not leaving essential out of this page, I'm just assuming that by now you might be more familiar with the laser to the point that I don't have to explain it step by step. |
Summary
It's hard to believe sometimes that really hard things can get easier but it's true. I completed these items with little to no problems. Maybe it's because I have less stress in my life, maybe it's some other thing but I'm more confident with Illustrator now and I hope you can say the same. I know sometimes all these softwares and machines seem so tough and scary to work but you get used to it after a while because you have confidence in yourself! Have confidence my friends and as always, happy creating.
